In Which We Jokingly Treat Maverick Like an Adult...

This is what gets Maveick put in his room for a nap. The I'm-Getting-Tired-So-I'm-Annoyed-At-You-Talking face. ;)

These are phrases Josh and I commonly sarcastically use because a four month old baby has no idea what we're saying...but it's funny to treat a baby like an adult for our own entertainment. Mav gets his fair share of baby talk from us and everyone else that sometimes we like to switch it up a little bit.

...we think we're funny anyway...

Now that Maverick yells at me when he's hungry instead of crying:
"I can't understand what you're saying when you shout at me."

When it's nearing naptime and it's where he's headed anyway:
"If you don't stop it right now you're going to your room."

If we're somewhere and Maverick has been distracted, which leads to him being crabby/hungry a little early:
"Maverick, you didn't use your time wisely the last time you ate so that's why you're hungry now."

When his poop leaks out the sides or the top of his diaper a little bit:
"Maverick that was naughty!"

When we left Maverick with Jamie last week to go get Mexican and Maverick spent the better part of their time together shouting at Jamie:
"Maverick you need to be nice to Auntie Jamie when she babysits you."

Last night when he was crabby 30 minutes before his usual bedtime:
"You have two options. You can stay up and little longer and watch The Office with us or you can be crabby and go to bed early. Choose wisely."

Maverick tends to puke secretly/quietly, so I just casually mention this to him:
"Maveick just let me know if you spit up, I'll be over here."

Josh's favorite phrase. This covers general fussing, but more specifically crying at bedtime, crying in the car, or being mad about tummy time:
"Maverick, please get your crap together."

Our current favorite nicknames include:
Mav
Little Mav
Maverick Man
Little Maverick
Dork
Peanut
Punk

And what started as a joke but has quickly become my favorite (thanks to Uncle Nathan) Mav-RICO (semi-influenced by Buddy The Elf during the Christmas season).
